HISTORY

    PG Department of English is one of the leading departments of the college.The Post graduate department of English started its successful innings with the guidance of Dr.Sr.MariattaPudhota. and late Dr V.Rajini,Head of the U.G Department as in-charge of the department. Though it started with very few students but later found pace and developed the reigns of innumerable achievements as years passed by. MA ENGLISH course was inaugurated on 14th September 1996 under the auspicious of Rev.John Mulagada,Bishop of Eluru diocese.The department was affiliated to Andhra university .Department takes pride in having most enthusiastic and dedicated staff. From the academic year 2016-17 Post Graduation Department of English is affiliated to AdikaviNannaya University Rajamahendravaram.

The department follows the university syllabus adding job-oriented papers like communication skills and ELT. The Department envisions to make its students proficient in English Language.It aspires to sensitize the students towards literature keeping pace with new trends in language and literatureThe Department works with a mission of giving its students a firm foundation of English language.The ultimate focus is to create critical thinking leading to creativity and innovation.In its quest of realizing its vision the department organizes guest lectures and in-house activities. Eminent academicians are invited in an effort to not only enrich aesthetic sensibility but also to expose the students to the emerging trends in the fields of literature and language.The PG department of English introduced a club activity called THEATRE ARTS. It is a podium. To bring out the hidden talents and improve communication skills in students Department also have ADD ON COURSE Communication skills.

The Department maintains LIBRARY with rare collection of books on ENGLISH LITERATURE starting from Geoffrey Chaucer to the present day The Department is well equipped with ICT facilities, high quality software and books.The faculty have published research papers in various national and international journals. The hidden creativity of the students is manifested through the publication of WALL MAGAZINE in the department.Classes are taken by use of technology by means of Power point presentation etc. To inculcate interest among the learner’s films of different dramas and novels are shown as part of their syllabus. The department provides opportunities for the personality development of the students by conducting seminars and competitions and knowledge extension programmes.
